Each year we say goodbye to some of our aspiring young ringers as they head off to University for the first time.
On 16th September 2011, the ringers at St Mary's Caterham held a celebration for two of their regular visiting ringers who were awarded places at University. Rhea Sood and Heather Griffiths both start at University in October and we wish them all the best. In traditional St Mary's style, the celebration involved food. Both girls were presented with gifts of customised chocolate messages and coffee mugs (essential requirements for halls of residence!).

A quarter peal was attempted for Rhea and Heather but it was regrettably lost 2/3s of the way through when Heather was attacked by a wasp. If successful, it would have been Rhea's first quarter. The Oxted and Caterham ringers look forward to seeing you back at Christmas and have another go.
If you're off to University soon, then you may be interested to know that most have ringing societies that you can join.
A listing of all these societies can be found here.
