Young Ringers Notice Board

Welcome to this page for young ringers.  Most towers in the Surrey Association have young ringers but because of study commitments and sometimes awkward transport arrangement (i.e. relying on lifts from parents), it's hard for many to venture beyond their home tower.

So every now and then, special events are organised so you can ring with other young ringers and get some extra ringing practice. Most of these events are organised as a direct results of requests from other young ringers, so if you have an idea that you would like us to follow up, email Carolina Goodship at youngringers [at] surreybellringers [dot] org [dot] uk with your thoughts.   Click here to few recent events earlier this year.

Getting Involved!

There are several ways of getting involved and meeting up with other ringers.  Click here to find out more.

Violet Potter Award for young ringers

Congratulation to Heather and Sarah of Oxted who have recently become recipients of the Violet Potter award after they successfully completed their first quarter peal.

This award is available to ringers under the age of 18 who have successfully rung or conducted their first quarter or peal.  Read more for details of how to apply.

If you would like to ring a quarter peal or peal but struggling to find a band to ring with you, send an email the district master or anyone on the training committee (go to Who's Who for a list of contact details).  Most would welcome the opportunity to ring with you.

Getting Paid for Weddings

Did you know that ringers get paid to ring at weddings?  The fee varies from church to church but you can expect to receive around £10 to £20 which isn't bad for 20 minutes of ringing.  Your tower captain or ringing master will be able to say if you are at the right standard to take part (which is usually competent call changes).
