In Surrey we have some of the very best bell-ringers in the world but also some of the weakest local bands. We want every band in Surrey to have the chance of becoming a good band, if it isn’t already, and to help individual members to improve their own ringing.
The Association is fortunate to have several groups involved in a variety of ways, under the general umbrella of “Training,” to bring this about.
The training officer is Michael Uphill who is supported by a number of ringers who serve on the Training Committee. These are Michael Bangham who represents the Northern District and Kate Desbottes from the Southern District. We also have two additional members, Ian Griffiths and Patrick Wills. Chris McLean of Carshalton is an ex-officio member, our Doubles specialist.
There is no limit to the number of members who may serve on the committee, and anybody interested who thinks they may have a contribution to make is invited to get in touch with surrey [dot] training [at] yahoo [dot] com (Michael Uphill). The committee meets at least twice a year to review past events and plan for those in the pipeline.
The committee endeavours to organise an event during each of the other months in the year, December excepted, and always welcomes suggestions for potential courses. We are most fortunate to have a number of really good leaders for these.
