History

The tower is 15th century and an inventory records that there were 5 bells in 1550, which were subsequently increased to 6. After the re-building of the church in 1836 a further two bells were added. The church was again re-built and refurbished after a fire in 1973. The 8 bells survived and were re-cast and re-hung during 1982-83.

Transport

  • By Road: Church is situated at the southern end of Putney Bridge/bottom of High Street (A219). By prior arrangement some parking spaces are available in the forecourt to the church. Otherwise parking in local streets, where parking meters and residents permits are in force.
  • By Bus: Routes 22, 39, 74, 85, 93, 220, 270, and 430 all stop outside the church.
  • By Train: To Putney station from Waterloo, and 7 minute down the High Street.
  • By Tube: To East Putney and 12 minute walk, or to Putney Bridge with 5 minute walk across the Bridge.

A toilet is available inside the church.

The church has its own coffee shop. Traditional fast food style outlets abound in the High Street just 5-10 minutes walk. The ringers' pub of choice is The Bricklayers Arms, Waterman Street (Timothy Taylor) or alternatively The Whistle and Flute, Putney High Street (Fullers).
