History

The church is believed to date from 1291. The bells were originally cast in 1701 by Richard Philips and were re-hung in a steel frame in 1981. Whilst having a longish draft to handle, these mature bells produce a fine sounding ring.

Transport

  • By Road: Church is located at the West end of B2126, and can be approached from either the A29 (Dorking - Bognor road) - the shorter option, or the A24 (Dorking - Worthing road). Both routes are clearly signposted. Parking is available in the farmyard adjoining the church.
  • By Bus: Route 93 between Dorking, Capel and Horsham, with a ¾ mile walk from Capel.
  • By Train: To Ockley. Turn right out of the station - the church is ½ mile along the lane.

Facilities

The King’s Arms pub, which serves good food, is half a mile away, going south along the A29. Across the road from the church is Ockley Court, a farm shop providing vegetables, flowers and fruit.
