History

The original Mitcham Parish Church was built in the 13th century. The base of the bell tower is part of that original building; the remainder of the church was rebuilt in 1812.

The bells had a major renovation and were rehung in 1952.

Transport

  • By Road: The church is sited on the north side of Church Road, to the west of the A217 (Sutton - Tooting road) having turned off at Mitcham Cricket Green. Limited parking is available in the streets adjoining the church.
  • By Bus: Route 200 stops close to the church.
  • By Train: To Mitcham Junction, then by tram.
  • By Tram: From Wimbledom to Croydon. Alight at the Belgrave Walk stop and 4-minute walk.

Facilities

There is a toilet in the church near the main entrance.

The nearest pub is the Cricketers (Youngs) and there is a small restaurant 100 yards from the church. Other eating places, including Indian, Chinese and the usual fast-food facilities are all available in the Town Centre just 7 minutes walk away.
