History

All Saints Banstead is an attractive flint faced building with a tiled roof and sturdy tower which is surmounted by a shingled spire with a cross and gilded cock atop of it. The oldest parts of the church date back to 1190 - 1220. The bells are a magnificent ring cast by Gillett and Johnston in the early 1920s.

Transport

  • By Bus: Buses run regularly to the High Street from Sutton.
  • By Train: To Sutton station from Victoria or London Bridge, then by bus to Banstead High Street. It is preferable to avoid Banstead station. It is an un-manned station on a branch line from Sutton, without convenient bus or taxi services, and is an awkward 25 minute walk from the church.
  • By Road: The church is on the south side of the High Street (B2217), in Banstead village, and signposted from the A217 (Sutton - Reigate road). Access from M25 is at junction 8. A number of parking spaces are available in the churchyard with free parking in the High Street, but on a first come basis during shopping hours. A ‘Pay and Display’ park is also available next door to the church.

Facilities

The Church’s coffee shop “Open Door”, where toilet facilities are available, is sited in the church grounds and open Monday - Saturday 10 am - 2 pm.

At the East end of the High St is the Woolpack pub with bar food available, together with a range of restaurants and bistros providing for most tastes.
