Violet Potter was a ringer for over 60 years in Surrey. Initially at St Peter, South Croydon and then St John, Caterham. In this time she was a great supporter of young ringers and went out of her way to encourage them.

In her will, she left the Association a sum of money and the General Committee have decided to start this award with that legacy.  It is designed to provide a small goal for ringers who are not yet 18 years old to aim for and provide recognition for an achievement that is within their reach.

Details

• Every member of the Association who has not yet reached their 18th birthday (at the time of ringing) is eligible for this.
• When they ring or they conduct their first peal or quarter peal (treble, tenor or inside), they will be offered the publication of their choice from a list of suitable publications. This will be presented at the next suitable opportunity.
• Application must be made to the gensoc [at] surreybellringers [dot] org [dot] uk (General Secretary) within 3 months of the peal or the quarter peal.
• Limited funds that will be used until the legacy runs out.
• Only one award per person.
