Entry is via the North door to the church, at the bottom of the tower, with the door to spiral staircase straight ahead. The bells are normally rung upstairs, but the ropes can be lowered for ground floor ringing if required.

History

Christ Church recently celebrated its 125th Anniversary. The bells are slightly younger, being installed in 1884. After a long period of non-ringing, a local band has been active since 1994. The bells were renovated in 1999 with the aid of grants from the Millenium Commission and the Surrey Association Belfry Repair Fund.

Transport

By Road: The Church is sited to the East of Christchurch Road (A236) -Mitcham to Colliers Wood, just before joining the A238 - Merton and Colliers Wood High Streets. Limited parking is available in front of church for practice nights, or at the Priory Retail Park across the road, but beware 2 hour limit.

By Bus: Routes 57 or 200 from Wimbledon Station.

By Tube: Northern Line to Colliers Wood then three minute walk.

Facilities

Toilets are situated in the church hall by the north door.

The ringers frequent the "William Morris" (free house) at Merton Abbey Mills, 7-8 minutes the other side of Savacentre which serves good beer and food. The alternative is the "Kiss Me Hardy" across the road in the Priory Retail Park, which is a family orientated theme pub, also serving food.
